About Us

An atelier of architects, joiners and material curators.

Master Interior Craft began as a two-person workshop above a furniture yard in the old quarter. Today we are a team of twenty-three — architects, interior designers, master carpenters, stone masons and project leads — operating from a converted warehouse with our own joinery shop on the ground floor.

We work slowly on purpose. Every project begins with a week of listening: to the building, to the light, to the way a family moves through a morning. We draft joinery by hand. We source stone and timber from quarries and forests we have visited ourselves. We do not work to a house style — we work to the life you already have, made more beautiful.

— I

Slow Materials

Stone, oak, lime plaster, linen. Sourced from quarries and forests we have walked ourselves.

— II

Hand Drafting

Every drawing leaves the studio by hand first. Pencil, paper, light — the way joinery was always meant to begin.

— III

One Workshop

Architects, masons, joiners, designers under a single roof. No sub-trades, no agency temps, no surprises.

— IV

On Time, On Budget

Fixed-scope contracts, transparent line-by-line invoices, weekly site photos. What we drew is what you pay for.

Our Journey

Many years, drawn slowly.

From a workshop above a furniture yard to a full atelier — a few markers along the way.

The Workshop Opens

Elise Moreau and a single carpenter begin restoring antique furniture above a lumber yard in the old quarter.

First Full Renovation

A heritage townhouse on Rue Lavoisier becomes our first end-to-end project — joinery, stonework, lighting and finishes.

The Atelier Moves

We relocate to a converted warehouse with our own joinery shop, allowing us to draft and build all custom pieces in-house.

Material Archive Launches

A curated library of 400+ stones, timbers, plasters and textiles — sourced from quarries and forests across three continents.

Studio of Twenty-Three

Today we are architects, designers, masons, joiners and project leads — and the workshop floor is still the heart of the practice.

What We Do

Client Stories

Rooms that hold a life well-lived.

Words from those who trusted us with their homes — and now live inside the work of our hands.

"They listened for a full week before drawing a single line. The result is a home that feels like it has always been ours — just clearer, quieter, more itself. We have not changed a single thing in three years."

Hélène & Marc Dubois Townhouse · Rue Lavoisier

"The kitchen they built is the heart of our home. Every drawer slides like silk, every surface ages the way they promised. The stone has darkened at the sink where my hands rest, and it is more beautiful for it."

Sophie Lambert Family Kitchen · Marais Apartment

"We had been told our 1840s building was unrenovable. Master Interior Craft spent six months, used three quarries, and produced a bath that feels like a small chapel. The plaster alone took four weeks — and it shows."

Jean-Pierre & Claire Roux Heritage Bath · Lyon

"Every tradesperson on site was their own. Every drawing was hand-drafted. Every meeting started on time. In a world of contractors who over-promise, this is a studio that quietly delivers exactly what it drew."

Questions, Answered

What clients ask, before they begin.

Ten questions we hear most often — from first call to final handover. If yours is not here, we are a message away.

How long does a full home renovation take?

A typical 150–250 m² home runs eight to fourteen months end-to-end: six to ten weeks of design and drawing, four to six weeks of sourcing and approvals, then sixteen to forty weeks on site depending on structural scope. We give you a fixed schedule before any work begins.

Do you work with existing architects or only your own team?

Both. We are happy to collaborate with your architect of record, taking on interior architecture, joinery and finishes as a scoped package. We are equally comfortable leading the project from first sketch to final cushion.

What is your pricing structure?

We work on a fixed design fee plus transparent construction costs. Design fees are quoted after the first site visit and scope conversation. Construction is billed at cost-plus-management — every invoice shows trade, material, and our margin line by line. No hidden markups.

Can we live in the house during the renovation?

For partial renovations, often yes — we phase the work and seal off dust zones with negative-air barriers. For full renovations involving structural work, plumbing or new floors, we strongly recommend finding alternative accommodation. We can advise on nearby short-lets.

Do you source materials internationally?

Yes — our material library holds 400+ samples from quarries and forests in France, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and Morocco. We can also source to specification. Provenance and sustainability documentation travels with every order.

What if I do not like the design proposal?

Each design phase includes two rounds of revision as standard. We rarely need a third — our process is built on long listening at the start, so the first proposal is usually close. If we do part ways, you keep all drawings up to that point.
